What do you guys think of these? I think I did well. What type of value would they have?

Fourth Issue has two pinholes, can see them in reverse photo. Also fairly stained as you can see from differance between color of copy paper verses note.

Fifth Issue better shape, still stained, and a bit more stained then forth, but less folds and no pin holes.

Thanks for looking, and any feedback.

No love for fractionals I guess.

I think they're an interesting chapter in our paper money history. These were issued because of a lack of small change at the time.

My dad showed me a well worn one that was saved by a friend's grandmother or great-grandmother (the friend was in her 90s).

i think there nice. Way back I had a complete denomination set of 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th issue notes, all of them were in XF, AU, or Unc condition, never had any 2nd. issues as I could never find nice ones the would fit into the collection. I sold the collection about 10 years ago.

They don't seem to be in much demand today, maybe because some collectors cant "find" them at banks at face value, It takes a real currency" collector to go buy them.

As to what others think, it's really not that important, as long as you think you did well, and you like them, that's the important thing.

Well I got both for $23.50 and I think they are probably close to vf. The margins are nice which can be tough on these. The paper is nice and crisp, but they are stained pretty heavy, probable from being around smoking.

I like 'em too! Meredith is my favorite of all fractionals though, because he looks like he had a hard night drinking. For the price you paid, I'd say you did well.
