Picked this up for my 7070. Loved the look and even has some red mint luster peeking through. Getting harder to find old copper that doesn't have planchet flaws or environmental damage. Reverse has some nice luster. Obverse was difficult to photograph, but here it is. I feel like it is a solid 62, but I am wondering if it has a shot at 63. I have looked at a lot of images on Heritage and like it better than several 62s that have sold.
Thanks TJ. Honestly I don't think it has the luster for 64. If I thought it would go 63 I would send it in to be graded, but odds are it will just reside in my type album for now.
Great strike on this coin. Very clean surfaces. From what I can see, the surfaces are original (though that is hard to tell from photos). No trace of wear. From the pictures, I'd guess this coin has great eye appeal in-hand.
Without luster, likely a 62. With some luster, an easy 63. From my experience, braided hair Half Cents need full cartwheel luster (or some other exceptional feature) to grade 64.
Nice coin. I recently purchased a PCGS MS-63 that I cracked out for my 7070 album. It looks to have slightly stronger luster than yours, so I'd guess yours to be 62. It is a very nice type representative though.
