I purchased 4 of these bars from a reputable guy, and I think I did o.k. I paid 150$ each.. Do you think I should buy the other 6 that he has for sale. They all weigh up right at 5.02-5.05 ounces. Even though I am not planning to sell them right now, I noticed on ebay that everyone has these bars listed at buy-it-now for 200$ ++ ..what is everyone's opinion on these .. thanks in advance for your input..

For J&M Bars, I think there is a premium over spot. Although I wouldn't pay over $120 for these. If you see the exact same type of bars going for $200+ each ob ebay (Check Bid prices, meaning sold items not Asking price for Buy-It-Now`s), then you should go ahead and get the other 6, try to see if he sells them to you for maybe $140 each, since you`re buying all 10.

The good news is that your bars are true bullion items.
That means they should have LESS THAN a 10% markup over spot.
That means at the moment they should cost you at the most $115 per bar.

I am basing this price on how much it would cost me to buy them from my bullion dealer.

Much like proof eagles are still just an ounce of silver and should be worth $21 but aren't, these "old pour" silver bars are very desirable among collectors. J+M and Engelhard old pours can command a hefty premium.

I think you did well at $150.

There is a little world of J-M aficionados and in that world, old poured 5oz J-M bars like yours command some premium. I also believe you did OK.
Another six of them, though? What for? If you intend to resell them, will your profit be certain enough and (after all ebay and Paypal fees) worth the effort?
That having been asked, I don't think they'd be a bad idea. I think a big consideration is your evaluating how much leisure money you have to cut loose
and how you choose to spend it.

Great old Johnson Matthey bars. I've seen most of these sell lately on ebay around $180. I would pay $150 for one. Not a bad deal.

Not bad at all - I would buy the rest and try to get them @ $140. Those bars are neat and I like older bullion JM / Engelhard bars as they do command a premium on various designs - some more than others. Just ask the people who own 4 or 7 oz Engelhard bars. Congrats on your purchase and best of luck.
