Tons of speculation all over. Lots of opinions. I want to create some traceable traction.

Here's what I'd would like to facilitate:
The rules are:
We need 5-10 people to "Play". Once you sign up, I will track and publish your results to date.

Each player is given $100,000 "funny money" to play the game with. Once a player's amount drops below 25,000, they are out. Once a player amount exceeds 250000, they win and the game is either over, or the rest can continue.

Once I get 10 replies "Im in!", I will report the start and look for daily or less frequent decisions from each player on buying/selling.

The investments can be held as:
1. Cash
2. Gold
3. Silver

I'd be willing to add a fourth if there's a lot of demand.

I will use the current day's closing price for any transactions.

Who's in?

Is this a market research game lol? I envisaged questions like in 'who wants to be a millionaire', not day trading lol. Very interesting game idea, but this is one I'll have to sit out as I'm trying to keep my hair :D. Good luck with the game :).

I see a lot of flaws with the limitations put in. I mean its a cool idea.... but if gold and silver trade in a narrow range, thats gonna be boring.

Then, why not trade palladium and platinum also?

I'd probably try it. There's a fairly new stock on the market designed to take advantage of the new market that just opened up in Colorado and Washington(I assume you know what I mean since it's been in the news lately) that I might invest real money in. The letters are GWPH. I follow it on Minyanville.

Rest in Peace

LeoS, this could be interesting but, to many variables.
Not sure how the mods feel about someone starting a game with your limited post.

it should involve all commodities as Ying mentioned. You mention cash... ok well then if you allow cash as a position, because in some cases it can be considered a position, then for holding "cash" one should get some sort scoring system as well.

finally.....

I will say this. 100K to make 250K is like... lets just say from my position, thats super easy, could be done in less than a day.

so I think to make it interesting it should be a duration of time. that would be much better. Just a suggestion. I dont plan on playing myself, just offering suggestions.

I just thought it'd be fun to have a simple way, with limited commodities to see who makes what choices.

To add too many options, would be tough to keep up with. The "game" is great for arm chair QBs that want to play.

Let's say someone reading this had 100k sitting around, watching what people do with it over a period of time would be interesting, both on the up and down side.

Although, I would agree a period of time may be better than a set amount.

Pardon my low post #'s, I read this forum daily and have for the last couple of years. I have no motive other than the old business school game (we used the stock market).

Yup - I really wanted you to play, as I bet MANY who have read your posts would like to see you play along! I'll give you a carrot, add one commodity of your choosing, deal?

This is the man, not the mod typing...

Since this is for fun, with no real cash is changing hands, then I see no problem.

If you feel like this is just fishing or market research, then do not play.

That being said, this is the mod... we are watching you. Always watching.
