I just need help getting a approximate grading of this
1879 O MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR I just got...

I usually only buy Lincoln Cents, or Mercury dimes this was a venture out my comfort zone...

Just want to make sure I didn't over pay.. What do you think would be to much to pay for this one...

I'm a little bothered by the description of "Key" on the holder - although this was the lowest of the New Orleans mintages excepting the scarce early 1890's examples, it's still only one of nearly 2.9 million struck. Yeah, a bit of a key in Mint State (a $500 coin in MS64) but circulated examples are easy. This one's roughly AU50, as close as I can come from relatively small images. Not much of a premium in that grade; I'd call $40 a pretty fair price for it, for both seller and buyer.

And yes, I found where you bought it.

Thanks SsuperDdave, Yip, $45 on ebay.. was kind of a impulse buy I dont have any Morgan's I thought it was in good shape for the price but then again .. I tried to get one locally they where $300 range but was probably slightly better in grade. I only knew that there a few 1901 & 1879-0 uncirculated I had remembered reading that. I think I should stop buying none LWC and practice my grading on other coins till I am better at judging stuff.

It bothers me when dealers wright on their coin packages "Key date", "Gem BU!", "RARE!". I'm pretty sure I don't need anyone to tell me what's rare and what's gem BU. I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone and say AU50.
