I thought I'd share some photos of the lovely 1890 Victoria Half Penny I own. I picked this up on ebay UK last year. I absolutely love the bronzes of Victoria! Paul Bulgerin

Wow that is fabulous condition, it often amazes how after 124 years two world wars coins remain like they were meant to be. Great coin, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your reply. The coin is a brighter red than my photos capture and is, indeed, lovely.

Superb! It's rare to see a bun halfpenny in that condition, as they circulated more heavily than pennies at the time.

I agree about the hair detail mentioned above, but also the fine detail within the shield. I use picasa for my photos, cropping etc but you can also change the lighting/brightness/contrast to make look how it does in front of you. Either way though, you possess a gem their. I have a couple of Victoria pennies that are envious of that condition :).

I use Photoshop 7 for my photos and haven't ever tried to adjust the color.
I'll have to try that . . . which means have my 22 year old daughter show me how while she rolls her eyes in embarrassment at her father's lack of computer skills.

My 1890 Half Penny returned from NGC today where it was graded MS-65 RB. I'm very pleased at that, especially since I bought in on ebay for $15.00. I'll try and take a nice photo of it in the NGC holder and post it soon.

Why get it graded. It is UNC. It seems pointless to me...but hey.

Beautiful coin, glad it graded as high as you hoped, and, even better, you paid next to nothing for it!

I had it graded because I might sell it in the future and an NGC MS-65 RB slab would most likely sell for much more than "Uncirculated".
Also, I was curious and wanted to see what it graded. I figured with what I paid for it plus the $35 for grading I couldn't go wrong.
I also sent in an 1862 (my favorite coin in my collection) to see what grade it received. I'll post a photo of it soon.
