Wheat stalks are not always a good indicator. I have some MS RED Lincolns with NO lines in the wheat stalk. Also the left ( viewers left) wheat stalk does tend to be weaker if the strike is weak. Or the die's worn. As someone noted the jaw and cheekbone separation is a better way to go.
