http://read.thestar.com/?origref=ht...-maple-syrupIt works! The new Canadian polymer bills smell like maple syrup. I'm not sure if everyone here already knew this or not but I tested a few of my friends and none of them knew about this and found it pretty interesting. The mint says they didn't intend for this to happen but I find it kind of a hard to believe coincidence. Just thought I'd share. Try it.

I was aware of this when the $100s first came out. I was shown on my birthday when I received one. But still pretty cool! Thanks for posting, I forgot all about this.

Smell is notoriously inaccurate... I really doubt these smell like anything specific.

The one I smelled was crisp and uncirculated and it was a bit off but I could tell the similarity. I only smelled the $100.

When I still used to buy CDs, the best and most elaborate albums had the best printing and the ink was stinky - same smell as the polymer bills.

I've got 18 crisp 100 polymers in my wallet right now, should smell like an IHOP when I open it up, it doesn't.

LOL... Mexico has the same type of polymer bills. When I was there, I smelled them, and just like Canada, they smelled like Maple Syrup! So, I would say coincidence!
