Just wow, I'd love to come across one of those tiny ancients. Its amazing that so many nice ancients survived, even more so when you see these tiny tiny greeks!

I really like these small monogram type coins. These two have nice details thought lacking legends which isn't uncommon on this type.

Question ? I know next to nothing about these types. The reverses both look very similar. The obverse portraits are quite different though.
Different mints ?
Barbarous ?
Opinions ?

Nice. My Anastasius is worn flat.

The variations I've seen in busts just seem to be a result of the mint's poor work ethic. A lot of images of monograms are labelled as barbaric, but perhaps they did get it right occasionally.

Also, these things arent greek. These ones are Roman - they are the bridge between Roman and Byzantine coins. Anastasius later in his reign reformed coinage to the byzantine Follis (follis meaning a bag, because it took a bag of these to get anything). Its at that point that you get coins described as Byzantine instead of Roman, though Anastasius himself is generally thought of as a Byzantine.

Sorry I didn't get to the questions, got busy with life.
The bust style details ranged considerably (while staying cartoony) even within mints, so there aren't really mint styles to speak of that could help you in assigning a mint to one of these that happened to be missing the mintmark. Basically, like Benbyfeld said, they got sloppy with these. As examples like yours demonstrate, however, some decent and well-struck gems do exist.

BTW these monogram coins are Roman in style and origin, but since these are Anastasius and he is in SB, this fact makes these officially Byzantine coins (more specifically, pre-reform Byzantines).
