I am not going to lie I have no idea what to look for on this coin. The hold has a bunch of drawings and numbers and what not but not sure I really know what it means. Any how here is what I think it is. I believe I see doubling on the 3 on the date and all the edges of the letters and numbers look as if they are flattened on the side closed to the edge. If need be I can post more pictures. On the reverse side it says doubling on ray. Sorry I have no idea on what I should be looking for on this coin.

I don't know what all of those markings mean and I assume that they are just notes for the dealer or something like that. I could be wrong, but I honestly have no idea.

Sorry I'm not help to your quest. I just came here to say wow, that is a very busy cardboard holder. I'm sure others will chime in soon.

after looking at another 1973 half I am starting to kind of get excited a lot of the numbers and letters look like balloon font on this coin compared to the other coin. I also can for sure see a more rounded edge doubling on the top of the three and the bottom inside of the three. The N in IN GOD also has doubling on it pretty heavy. If this helps when I get back later I might post more pictures.

I sucks at detecting any kind of doubling, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I have basically no experience with halves. From googling I would research the 1973d DDo-002 number as that seems to be more commonly cited.

Per this site: http://www.varietyvista.com/Variety....htm#_1973-D
There should be "Extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and date"
There are also some other markers you can look for, but I don't know what they mean.

From a competing forum site I see a post where someone is saying "The 73D DDO-002, 003, 004, and 005 all have some notching on the top right of the you in TRUST". I can't tell from your picture and I'd need to see some examples of coins with and without this notching to be sure.

So not really an answer. Just some things to maybe research more if you can. If it were doubling, I'm not sure what type of premium (if any) it would command).

When the images are lacking what we need to see to make a determination, it is not commented on. A good clear image will show what we need to see. Here is an example:

Having the right amount of light spread across the surface of the coin is the key. To much light gives glare. Too little light leaves us in the dark. Most new collectors try to put too much light on what they are trying to show and all we will see is glare. So having the balance of light helps so much. It takes the balance of light and shadow to make an image pop.
