I have a 2008 ( no mint mark) Eagle with a 2007 reverse. Anyone know if ANACS, NGC or PCGS has identified this as a variety or error. Thanks

I didn't know Philadelphia minted Eagles. Your coin is most likely the bullion version which was minted in West Point or San Francisco.

As to whether or not they will give the error designation call them and tell them what you have. Others in the past have posted that they have called or emailed ANACS about questionable coins and were told yes or no saving them the cost and hassle of sending them in.

I believe that I have seen NGC do it. I don't know about PCGS. I know if you send it in to NGC along with a normal ASE, they will put both of them in one larger slab.

The 08/07 error occurred only in the burnished W. The odds of 1) there only being one coin struck from the wrong reverse die OR 2) having the whole normal run from that die (or dies) go undetected for 6 years is rather slim.

The error also was not found in any of the 2008 Annual Dollar sets...

If you think you have the unique coin then obviously I would have it attributed.

I think that you should post a picture first. There are about 40,000+ of these errors with the W mint marked eagles. How do you know that it is a 2007 reverse ?

I was going to ask for a pic but any pre-2008 ASE could be used for that pic...it would have to be seen in hand.

"The 2007 Reverse is distinguished by the bowl shaped "U" of UNITED"

this was found on an ebay auction

Correct...different font and VERY easy to see.

Since the OP was a one and done I would assume it is a non-event
