Hello Forum members,

Ive got 2 coins I can't identify yet. The first coin I though that I saw it some time ago as an Swiss cantons coin. But I cannot find it again. The second looks indian ? To me but I haven't a clue how old and where to look because there are alot of indian states though.

Wondering if someone knows more about these coins.

Best regards,
Vincent

The first is not a Swiss Cantons coin but rather a gross of the papal state. Too worn to identify a date there.

The other is likely a pice of an Indian princely state Circa Late 1800's-Early 1900's.
Unfortunately due to my lack of the usage of the skill I can no longer read Arabic or Urdu/Sanskrit dates. So you're on your own there.
This should give you enough info to find each coin. For the papal coin look rough rhinocoins.com for the Indian coin look through Numista.

Hello Zxcccxz,

Thanks for your reaction. The first one is indeed papal states. This one comes close, but not entirely the same:

I have still to dig on the second one...

than should follow A, AN, ANN (anno)and a latin number : year of reign (not readable on your coin)
(1730 + number above = date of the coin)

Hello Petrus,

Thanks alot for your reaction. About the first coin with you explenation I found the exact match over here: http://www.mcsearch.info/search.htm...ar:1051979#0

Not an dated coin. PAPST CLEMENS XII., 1730-1740
Münzstätte Rom. Grosso A V (1734/1735), Rom. Muntoni 136.

The second coin thank you also wojciez. Strange though that indian coins dated later. Probably started with the first year when Buddha lived? The Arabic people when Mohammed lived and the europeans and the rest of the world when Jesus lived.
