Hi I am not a collector but my late brother in law was and collected only Australian coins. When he passed, he left my husband the following Australian pennies which he rolled in bank paper and added the date and number of the pennies in the roll (each roll contains 25 pennies) 1951 x 2; 1952 x 4 ; 1955 x 1958 x 1; 1960 x 1; 1961 x3; 1962 x 3 1963 x 2 ; 1964 x 5. None of the rolls have been opened by us and I have had someone interested in purchasing the lot. Any ideas on how I should price them? I am lost....thanks in advance. Cheers

It totally depends on the condition of the coins. If they have been well circulated and worn
you would probably get about $20 per kg but if they are uncirculated you might get a few
dollars each but each coin would have to be valued individually which is a bit difficult if
they are in rolls.Ideally we would need close up photos of both sides of each coin so we could
advise a bit more accurately

Yeah, onto ebay starting at $10 or $20 and see where it goes but coins just sitting in a roll without clarity probaly won't attract big bids, the Bank paper the Coins are rolled in may be worth more than the Coins depending on the Bank & signage.
The main thing with listing on ebay is to take the time to list with all relevant Info. and individual photos of each roll with the Bank's Logo showing,if its plain brown paper then a group photo will probaly do.Good Luck.

Can you post photos of the ends of the rolls (so that one coin is visible)? They could be uncirculated which would put their value in the thousands.

I highly doubt that Walter.
These are self rolled and not Mint rolls, There could be anything in these.
I would treat these the same as I would "Unsearched rolls"

Yeah,I've seen dozens of these "hordes" over the years. As older members of this Forum will know it was very common in the 1950's and 1960's to store Coins this way.Almost every small Business and every large Business at that time rolled their Coins, either for storeage in the change bin or for their Banking so they didn't spend half the day with a Teller, and this carried over to personal storeage.

Probaly the best thing to do is to show the coins to a dealer,if their hand rolled he can break the rolls(ask to be present)and see exactly what they contain, then make a decision on what to do then.Only downside is you may be charged for his time which will probaly be more than the coins are worth.
