I have seen a few of these on ebay. I would like to get one from either NC, MO, or TX. The problem is I have only seen a MO on ebay and I would like an NC more than any of them. I also have no idea if they released NC dies and I also have no idea how much these are worth. Can someone help me out?

I almost purchased on one time until I found out the die face was ground smooth (I guess to prevent you from making counterfeits)

The dies I have seen on ebay over the years are usually listed for $30 or so and rarely sell.

I found a few that were starting out at $20 with no bids.

Have you emailed the seller on ebay to ask if they have a NC one?

It appears this person bought several different State Quarter die sets..maybe they have a NC one that they haven't listed.

Hm...interesting. I do need a new door stop, but I think postage across the Atlantic might be more than $30.

I would prefer to see the die in person before I buy it. I was just wondering if they existed.

There's nothing on the face of the die to see. The side has a P or D followed by a serial number.

Yes, the Mint did sell NC quarter dies. Like others have mentioned, the design has been ground off the die. I'll try to post a picture of mine so you can see what they look like.

Huh. The dies I have seen, not State Quarters mind you, were not ground down. They simply had an X carved through the design. Prevented usage, but still left the design showing.

They must have ground all of them smooth. I was going to pick one up in a live auction this weekend but passed. When I seen it was ground smooth.

The only US dies available with an X cancellation are the Atlanta Olympic dies, they typically sell for $500-1000.

That was only done on the 1996 Olympic dies that they sold. The 1968 proof dies that were sold were defaced by melting the faces with a welding torch. In a few cases a little bit of the design remained, but a very little bit.
