Massive accumulation of hundreds and hundreds of English coins approx weight 9 kg Oldest noticed is a 1723 halfpenny  Vast majority are copper coins but the tin includes farthings, half pennies, pennies, brass Threepences, Sixpences, shillings, half crowns and a crown. Few silver pre 47 included. Over 50 Victorian coins counted in the copper coins. Low start bid for a massive collection Unwanted lot as not a collector. Thats the guys description of the coins

I would definitely pay $100 for that! The shipping would be a pain though
Seriously, no idea. From this description it could be either (but sounds like it's cheap enough - per coin anyway - that you can't really do too badly).

Try and get it for fifty pounds, just for the sake of it. I'd definitely plunk down a hundred US bucks for something like that, especially if I could see it first. I have a treasure chest of low-value world coins like your lot, it's fun to be Scrooge McDuck and dump it on the table to look it. Lots of history and wonderment there. If kids come over, I have no problem letting them dig in all they want, and they can take a couple home if they ask.

I would expect to find nothing that is not well worn, but maybe a few decent pennies, and the silver is always worth the melt value, so if you get 20 silver sixpence out of it, that's about 20% of the purchase price right there.

These coins are dirt cheap and common - 5 for a quid, the old decimal pennies, if you know where to look. I got a lot of my oldest UK coins for 20p each - William and Mary onwards.
