Well I wouldn't say double for Canadians as we have to pay for shipping, the exchange rate, duty and ebay fees. I'm sure I won't be keeping the gold as I don't have a big interest in baseball aside from catching a game or two a year that's about it for me. At least I'll keep the silver HOF coin as the gold will pay for it. The curve coin design is very interesting to see and the detail is great as well. The display could be better for the gold version, but their felt black box does feels very luxurious.

"Sports coin", no?
Looks like only the gold interesting and only for resell purposes.
Without any dis-respect to the baseball or the game fans, but the coin targeted to be completely sold and collect the dust somewhere in the houses.

Corrected:
What I meant, that with this theme and huge mintage, big part to the coins will be given/sold to the people, that actually do not need it.

Well in Canada I'm sure it's no where near as popular, but south of the boarder it's their national sport and with 10 times the population I can see why it would be sold out. I've been told their release of NCLT are few and far between.

I know a majority went to people who have no interest in coins or baseball but I'd attribute that to NGC and PCGS and the monster they've created, if the average person saw a coin that sold for 425 resold with a slab with a opening day label sell for 3,000 to 5,000 he's going to tell himself hey I may not like ether hobby but I do like money. The fact that people are paying these prices leads me to believe the buyers have to be real baseball fans.

The Mint put out a series of severely unpopular World Baseball Classic coins. So, why didn't these baseball fans fall all over each other for those?

Keep in mind Americans DID for Superman gold
And RCM bullion is so popular in the US, we are now regularly complaining about the special productions for states-side interests.

So, clearly, Americans will EAGERLY purchase RCM products.

I think the reason this issue did so well due to the much more reasonable premiums the US Mint puts on their gold. 1/4 toz for US$425 versus $650 for RCM offers.

US$1700 an toz v. ~US$2350.

This attracts a lot of those with a bullion interest willing to pay a premium for something with numismatic appeal. Here bullion people stay clear of NCLT, as it is crazy priced.

Americans don't care about world baseball. MLB is all that is recognized as important.

Of course the irony there is that the WBC is MLB.

I get the point but as far as I know, there is nothing on the HOF coins or packaging that ties them to major league baseball.

That said, IMO there is no comparison between the design of the HOF coins and the WBC coins not to mention the significant price differences. Yes the mintages are much higher on the HOF and they are not PM pure, but they are exponentially better and more interesting.

BTW, for anyone who ordered from Colonial Acres, do you know if they had the coins on hand or on order from the US Mint? Their listing didn't say pre-order so I would expect them to ship in the next day or so.

Hall of Fame at Cooperstown is not of Major League baseball.

World Baseball Classic is not part of MLB either.

Obviously, you're right about Cooperstown - that was my point.

However, the WBC is primarily MLB. Check their website, especially the legalese at the bottom.

@CC-Ottawa: From my experience, Colonial usually ship about a week after ordering (sometime a little sooner or later).
