I had posted a 1960 D LMC with almost the same die chip placement in the date as well. Must just be a 'troubled' spot for them to take place. Inside the 9 in the date?

The 1950's dies were over used. The 1960 Small dates did have a problem die chips thus the large date. But I think your right it may be a troubled area.
