Pulled these out of a slew of "non-errors" in a collection I recently purchased. Not 100% sure on these as to if they are errors or PMD, but I am pretty sure they are legit.

Confirmation and an explanation would be great :) Thanks!

1947 penny, significantly underweight at 2.3 grams (regular is 3.1g). Slightly smaller than normal diameter. The edge is smooth and uniform, doesn't appear to have had the rim shaved down.

An American 1908 Indian Head cent, with what appears to be a grease-filled die. Most of the date and part of the legend on the bottom of the obverse is missing.

The only one I would keep is the IH cent,it's a Grease Filled Die.

1. Acid etched.
2. Lamination (de-lamination)
3. Looks to be struck on a split planchet. Is this year normally magnetic? Otherise it might be an off-metal error.
4. As stated by John, appears to be struck-through grease/ filled die

I think the gem of the group is the nickel. Cool coins!

1st-looks like acid attack
2nd-lamination peel
3rd-Wrong or split planchet?
4th-Looks like grease but I'm going to guess vertically tilted obverse hammer die light strike
Just my opinion thanks

Thanks for the responses.

I am still not sure what to think about #3. The 100% nickel planchets of that year are magnetic, so no help there. IMO, there's just no way that it lost half it's weight from the probable PMD on it. Yet I don't see any other explanation. Looks kind of like the split planchets I've looked up, but there isn't a single large portion of one side missing like on most of them.

My best guess at this point would be a thin, foreign planchet (resulting in some waffling/weak areas), and then some PMD as someone ground it down on one side to see if it was plated?

After looking again I agree with nickelsguy the 1964 nickel looks like PMD. Looks and is thinner because there is nearly no rim left thus the weight. Good thing its not XWL..lol

The 1964 5c looks like a legitimate thin planchet error to me. The nasty scrape @ 5:00 on the obverse was probably from the coin getting stuck in a counting machine.

The 1964 nickel is no doubt, a genuine mint error.
