I have a 1949 specimen strike with a letter from the mint declaring it as true. Would this be worth sending away to be graded verified and encapsulated? Should I send the letter along?

Could we have pics of the coin and note please? If it is true its worth thousands and should be sent out to ICCS or another TPG so it can be graded and proven authentic. As far as sending the note with it goes, I see no point since they can tell if it is or isn't by looking at the strike and detail.

Nice! No need to send the letter along, the coin will speak for itself. The person whose signature is on the letter is a member of this forum though he posts infrequently.

Does the "light scuff" mean a SP-58?

I'm thinking that this coin needs a hard case. Does ICCS do a hard slab or is it just the plastic envelopes?

Just plastic envelopes, perhaps you could go with pcgs or NGC. There is also cccs who do slabs and soft flips.

Sorry dollarman, I still have not decided what TPG to go with and what I'm going to get graded.
