It is beat up so it is hard to tell for sure and there's PMD on the Cud itself, but it kind of looks similar to a CU-1C-1983-08. What do you all think?

What does the opposite side of the reverse look like? If normal, then I lean on PSD. But an image would help show what is going on with your coin?

An image of the date might be helpful also. There looks like a die scratch could be there if it is from the same die as 008 from the site.

Here's a picture of the date. There is nothing unusual on the reverse for this small Cud or whatever it is...

I would keep this one. I see a contact mark on the tail of the 3 that looks like your coin was damaged in a counting/wrapping machine. That might explain where the damage came from. I do see a fading line like the 008 has. But I'm thinking this is the real deal. I don't see how damage could wrap that much over the rim to cover the devices without the rim showing the damage. See your image was helpful of the date.
