For me personally the reverse toning on the second one makes it very unappealing to me. I'd pick the first one.

Lots of hairlines, no? Both seem cleaned and toned back over time. Pass on them both and keep looking for my opinion on preference.

Thanks. I am pretty confident that neither coin has been cleaned, though the first one likely dipped(though it has more luster than the 2nd one and I think it is a higher grade).

Of the two, I would pick the second. that small little hit on the nose of the first just draws my eye. I know that in hand its probably barely noticeable, but in your picture my eye cant get away from it.

LOL, I never even noticed that...but I pulled out the loupe after you pointed it out, and like you said, a small little hit....so fair enough. Fortunately its not noticeable except under glass.

I like the first one
1st: AU-58 2nd: AU-50
On coin 1 I think that's a die crack from star 12 to the arrow head. On coin 2 I think there is a die crack from the rim through star 13.

I like the first one John! It might have been dipped in the past but I like the details and killer strike.
I'm with flippy on grades.

My grades would be AU-55 and Au-53, as I said before, the first one is much nicer, that hit on the nose is barely anything.

The eye appeal on the first one is better.

I am not competent to give a grade but I do like the looks of the first coin better than the second.

Thanks for the grades guys. Out of curiousity, where do you guys see wear on the top coin? It was graded MS-62 by SEGS.....I realize they aren't a top TPG, but they are somewhat respectable. I'm kind of on the fence regarding the grade of that one myself. It does have full luster in the fields, and not much in the way of marks; but I am not a pro at Seated coins. I like it more than the bottom one too, but I wish it had more toning....it was a nice buy if truly MS, as these get really expensive fast in lower MS grades. I didn't pay MS money for it, but it would be nice if it could make the cut.

I like the forst one as well... Far better details/strike a do could live with the nose ding more than the spot on the reverse of the second. For grades, I'm not sure bit the forst one wouldn't surprise me if it's MS , it's a beautiful coin!

The tips of the eagles feathers appear to have wear for the first...
1) AU-58, 2) AU-53, maybe 55.

Thanks guys!! Well I agree with the forum here, and am going to keep the 1st one and sell the other. The second one does have very nice cartwheel on both sides too, even beneath the toning...but has obvious wear. The 1st one looks great, no hairlines, very few marks and fuller luster...I just hope it will gain some color residing in the DANSCO.
