Hi,
First time I have run across this! On both coin's,there is a die chip on the very top of the 8. Also a little bit above the 9, there is I think a small a die gouge in the same place on both coin's

Although the D's look differant from each other, I'm going to study them more! One, could be a RPM
Anyone else seen this?

Two mintmarked coins struck from the same die would have at least similar markers, but one thing is certain - the mintmark will be exactly the same between them, and it will be in exactly the same position on both of them. If your two coins don't match exactly, they are not from the same die.

Thank's CC,
My 2 coin's sparked my interest!! But, what marker's beside the two I see for sure to be the same, should I look for? I said the D's looked different, but could be wear or just me. The coin's Look pretty close to me

Markers are anything struck into the coin by the die. markers to look for are anything that would not be on all coins of that date and mint. Die scratches, die gouges, die cracks, die dents, polish marks, mintmark position (before 1990) - are all die markers. They are never repeated between dies, and any two coins exhibiting the same marker are definitely from the same die.

Moonshine, if you have the necessary experience, (I do not), to make an overlay, then you could prove/disprove the fact that the two coins came from the same die, or didn't. There is another way, but it requires a TV outlet from the camera, etc, and a grid. This is very time consuming, and can be very helpful. It requires triangulation to locate quite precisely, the MM. I don't recommend this procedure for varieties, but, if it is the MM position, yes it will work. I can give you more in this regard, if requested.
