You could probably get $3 for it.

I'd say vg10. I'd hold onto it due to age.

Quote: Worth more than melt? Yes, ones that look worse than that fetch around 20 bucks on ebay. Probably looking in the 30 to 40 range for value, 60ish wouldnt be unheard of with the right timing for an auction

1909 s is a very popular date in the Barber dime series, once you get in the fine range prices get pretty serious.$40 to $50 would not surprise me. people on ebay seem to compete pretty fiercely for them sometimes. at the low end I see you getting at least $25 for it. To sum up my answer, Yes. that is a coin worth more than melt for sure.

VG-08, Nice coin, one of the better dates of the series. Probably around a $20 - $25 retail value, might go for a little more on ebay.

Not at all an easy date to acquire. As a rule, Barber dimes which go for melt in low grades jump quickly as the condition increases. justin, tell me about it. A really nice high grade circulated dime, if problem free, goes for WAY beyond the price guides. So few survived. I'd easily say Fine-12, but eye appeal is lacking. Oddly weak for a San Francisco issue. A hole that is often empty in an album or folder.

Got $55 in trade from my local coin shop. I take that as a vote for fine.
I have to say, my scanner seems to magnify every flaw and create others where they do not exist.
