Machine Doubled Penny? - Coin Community Forum

fragsmax New Member United States 42 Posts	Posted 03/30/2014 6:55 pm Hi All! I think that I found a Machine Doubled penny. I would love to have your opinions on it and wonder if it is of any value. One of the characters of this coin is that there are "striations" that look like stretch marks on the east and west edges of the Obverse pointing inward toward the center of the coin. I don't believe that the images really do it justice. Report this Post to the Staff

As for the striations I don't know whether they are from a polished die, a cleaned coin or ? Oh, and it's a CENT, not a penny (look at the reverse). Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/30/2014 7:14 pm The lines/area on the left side are Die Deterioration. When a die wears the devices closest to the rim is affected on side towards the rim. Report this Post to the Staff

This would make sense as there is a similar effect on the west side with the lines appearing on that side instead.
