So, I posted this question once before and got a lot of great advice. Most importantly collect what you like first. Well, this lead to my BU Roosevelt Collection, and my Peace dollar collection (which I think is just a great example of the artwork that goes into designing and sculpting a beautiful coin). Anyways, now its time to look to the next collection. My collecting to date has been ASEs, Roosevelt BU incl. Proofs, and Peace dollars. I think I want to do another modern set, and I am leaning toward half dollars. I like both Frankies and Kennedy's, but I cannot decide? Kennedy's have a lot of clad, but looks like it would be a blast to consider this ongoing collection and sheer number of coins in total. Also, keep in mind FBL is a little out of my price range, but not a proof Frankie collection. Ok, an ultra cameo Frankie collection is out. Unc MS+ is what I will be looking for in any modern coinage. What do you all like? What have you all collected? What are some new modern collections you are considering?

I am putting together an ms+ Franklin with proofs collection right now. I just love them, and with the added benefit of it being a relatively short series. FBLs are out of my price range too haha! but I don't really care too much about that stuff anyway.

I'm not really going in any particular direction right now. I add the odd coin to my Great Britain Pre-Decimal Type-set every now and then. I've been wanting to start a set of Franklin halves too, I suppose.

I follow. I got offered a full MS+ set of Franklin dates and mint marks, but they wanted 1000 for all in a capitol holder. I'm not sure how I feel about that price, it seems a bit steep in my opinion. To be fair to the seller, these were high grade, and some might even grade at MS65. Good bell lines on almost all. I'm not skilled enough to say FBL, but I would only imagine the seller would have separated those out already.
I am thinking of just doing the search for the set. For me, picking up one or two at a time and building the set is 90% of the fun in this hobby of ours.
As Spock once said, "You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

I'm slowly working on a set of Franklins with nice toning and luster. I think with silver lower than the last few years, they are a pretty good deal right now. I'm also working on completing my 2nd set of Ikes. I think this a very underrated series.

I recently found a Library of Coins Franklin half dollars album that was printed prior to the change to Kennedy halves and goes up to 1970. I'm putting together a second set of Unc. Franklins and Kennedy silver. I've got to figure out what to do with the 1965-D, 1966-D, 1967-D, 1968 and 1969 slots. The 1970 will probably be 1970-D.

Recently finished a set of Eisenhowers (without proofs) which will be upgraded over time. Nearly complete on business strike SBAs (missing 1980S). Also nearing completion of a date set of Jefferson nickels 1938-1970. I've started working on a set of Kennedy halves (no proofs). I thought about doing Franklins instead since it's one of my favorite coin designs (always has been). But the Kennedys are more in line with my budget since most lack silver, and they're the half dollar I grew up with.

I can't really pick one as I collect I'm all, lol, only my Kennedy's are complete. But a set of the half and dollar modern commems are great as well... Both BU and proof. Unless your strictly looking for circulation coins that is.

I collect a little bit of everything. Right now I am trying to finish my 20th century type set. I don't have a book for them but am only 5 coins away from completion after a recent trade with another member.

I wouldn't buy a complete set unless it was a price that I couldn't refuse. Searching for the coins is 90% of the fun. That said, I think a Franklin half set is a good set to work on. I completed my Unc set recently and it looks nice. There may be some FBL's in there but I don't know for sure. I am thinking about doing a set of proof Franklins.

As stated Franklin halves are a short and fun set to aquire. Mine were mostly taken from circulation but I have started a cameo proof set to add a little cream to my circulated set. I also like the Kennedy halves but have no intrest in non silver coins so that set is 1964 to 1970, 1976, and 1992 to date in silver. It is a cool set and more managable than the whole Kennedy set. Lastly you may concider a short set of Walking Liberty halves 1941-1947. Again a more managable set in MS grades. Enjoy the search.

Wander.......... Quote: What are some new modern collections you are considering? I like the Kennedy half dollars. Have a few Ikes gathered. Like large size coins ... in general. Can remember, as a youngster, that a Walker would more than fill my little 5 year old fist. Father would give me a half buck. Good for a movie, pop corn, and a milk shake at the Crown Drug store. Those were the days.
