Hey ho

I do not know too much about the spanish colonial coins.

I found this 1/2 real from what seems to be 1757

What puzzles me is that the bust from carlos III comes up for coins minted in the 1770s and later, but the date is 1757.

Sooo what do we have here :)

The bust on the coin is Carolus IIII and the date is 1797.

Oh I also see that its from the guatemala mint, seems to be a bit scarcer.

Even though the condition is pretty rough is there any value to it ?

Its got a giant hole in it! I would buy it at melt to save it from a smelter.

You could live with the giant hole (which many Guatemala pieces have) if there was something to the piece aside from that. In that overall dog condition, it's no more than maybe a $5 piece to the dedicated accumulator of Guatemala portraits.
