Hello all,

I have finally been able to get some decent photos (using a Canon rebel)with a copy stand and shutter delay. Now I am facing a new problem.

When I resize the pic to crop the initial photo it is too small to post on ebay where the option exists to enlarge by moving the mouse over the picture. Without resizing it is hard to crop due to the fact that the entire coin ?

Also have tried enlarging the cropped photo and then posting but it reverts back to the original size before enlarging. What am I doing wrong?
Thanksz for any suggestions or help, bob

It might be ebay doing it to your photos. I was listing without picture problems in January. Now, listing the exactly same way as January, the pics are automatically resized to 25k with no mouse over option. Another eBayer told me to check the box for "display enlarged photos for search results" Currently the normal charge for this is waved however on automatic renewal the fees for large pics kicks in. I just went back to the old method that I had some saved templates and the pics work fine with no surcharges. Always working an angle aren't they? nlp

The main problem is with your initial image.
It's not big enough and unless you can get more resolution with your camera you are probably stuck with what you've got.

Photoshop Elements can fix that but that software costs a lot.
And a new camera can fix that too but costs money.

Some of the online software packages can help (I think).
Photobucket comes to mind (I've never used it); take a look there.

Crop first, from the full size image, before worrying about sizing. When you downsize an image, data is discarded - it doesn't take as many pixels, of course, for a smaller image so that data is forever lost. Upsizing the image afterwards only makes a mess of things. There's all kinds of free software which will do this - the Gimp, Irfanview, Paint.net, etc.

How large are the original images when cropped to the coin only? Your ebay solution (I've no idea what they're doing with images these days) is to probably host images offsite - I use Photobucket - and post them into your auction copy using html.
