I bought a 1940-D DDR on ebay and was taking images if it when I noticed it was not a listed one on coppercoins, not either of the three on CONECA's disk. It is a new one I will have to submit to coppercoins later on. But I thought I would give all a peak as we've been discussing wheat DDRs'.

The location of the mint mark was what tipped me off that it was not 1940D-1DR-001.

Congrats on your find! I'm not good at identifying doubled dies and I can't for the life if me see the doubling on the reverse. If you say it's there then I'm sure it is, but can you help me know where to look for it on this coin? Perhaps I just can't see it through the wear.

Read through this thread. It shows the best way to find a wheat DDR.

Then come back to these images and see if you can see it then?

Ah yes. I can see it in the dot and the L. I'll have to go through my wheat cents again looking closer at the devices. Thanks Coop.

The light-bulb just went off, I understand now... That is such a simple way to find a DDR, I was looking doubling. I know I seen a few with egg shape ones. I thought that they were just it getting worn. Oh boy now if I can re find them in the stacks of wheat bricks, zip-locks and containers.
