Hummm lighting is off just a tad, looks like the cheek is severely chattered and the back is as well. I agree it COULD be a MS63, but I would not be surprised if it came back as a 62.
I was hoping someone would ID the VAM. I was on break earlier when I gave my opinion on the grade. I could see the die cracks and figured it might be identifiable from the photos. I like the VAM and had never seen it before. Thanks for posting David. Hear is a link to the VAM listing that matches your coin on VAMworld. http://www.vamworld.com/1884-O+VAM-29A Let us know if you ever need help determing what VAM you have.
I like 29A for it but I'm unsure it would reach MS63. At $47 it's fairly bought but not earth-shaking. The reason so little record is available for this VAM is, like most, there simply isn't enough demand for the specific variety to establish a track record. Keep in mind, there are some 5000+ individual VAMs listed and collecting them by variety is an extremely daunting task both financially and intellectually. Few are attempting it.
