There is extra metal on the reverse of this Wyoming Quarter. It is on the horses rear leg. Is this a die crack or just extra metal? Thanks.

That is from a die chip. Found often on the State Quarters series. Keep in the mint the planchet weight will be the same. With or without the die chip. The die chip just didn't form this area because of the missing metal on the die. The only way you could have extra metal is if the die chip was struck into the coin (Die steel) or something was struck into the coin (Wire). So there is probably no "extra" metal on your coin.

The EPU has Machine Doubling on it.
