Just saw a 2012 set sell for $220 and a 2013 set sell for $95. Are these ever going to peak?

IF and that is a big IF, those follow the trend of all proof sets, should go down, down, down. However, might just go up, up, up too. If anyone knew, everyone would be running out buying those.

Contrarian theory is in place. Things people don't want at first then appreciated in price, while things everyone wanted ended up loosing value. Isn't this human nature?

A lot of people thought the 2012 (clad/silver) Proof Sets would be available for several months into the year 2013, so when they sold out at the start of February 2013, a lot of people who were intending to buy the Sets from the Mint were caught off guard. From Mint Stats April 03: Quote: In the shadow of the baseball excitement, the regular clad proof set for 2014 went on sale. The Mint sold over 200,000 sets in less than a week. Many collectors still make their purchases as soon as a Mint product becomes available and this opening number is evidence that this old habit still exists. I bought my 2012 Silver Proof Sets the moment they were released, BUT I did buy a 2012 Clad Set the moment I heard of the Silver Sets' sellout. Good thing I did, the Clad Set sold out the next day. First time for me a regular-issue Mint product was Sold Out by the time I received it.

The 2013 Silver Proof Mint Set has a mintage of 24,282 higher than the 2012 Silver Proof Mint Set. It is still one of the lowest mintages of this series. Since the set sold out from the Mint the prices have been rising in ebay, $80-$90. In six months these silver 2013 sets will be selling for $125 or more. It is ironic the certified 2013 PR70DCAM silver Kennedy is selling between $70-120.

Yes, those 2012 sold out so very quickly! The 2011 were out there forever it seemed. I never was able to pick up the 2012 since waiting (due to the 2011 long time available) left me out.

While I knew the 2012 were commanding a high premium, I didn't realize the 2013 were.

We did brought up this 'issue' earlier in the year. I personally did mentioned in a couple posts regarding the potential sellout of the 2013 silver proof set. If you are missing out on the silver proof set, your only other remain option is to buy the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set (there's about 15K sets remain, out of the limit of 50K sets).
Also, watch out for the 2013 Uncirculated set since it's still about 40K below 2012 number and the 2014 set is release in mid May.

The limited edition 2013 is at 47,000 as of today. I give it two weeks to sell out and then that will go crazy. Already selling for $170 on ebay and you can still get them direct! I think the mint finally figured out what would make proof sets popular again.

I agree..3-4 weeks and these are toast. I think a lot of cash has been diverted to the Baseball coins so sales will slow a bit
Sales 3 weeks ago...830 sets Sales 2 weeks ago..1210 sets Sales last week.....540 sets
2893 sets left...
