Found this in my drawer at work today. At first, I thought somebody had painted a quarter. But after looking at it more closely, it looked way too cleanly done to be somebody defacing a coin.

Looked it up a bit, found out that it was a commemorative coin for the New York mets, done on the obverse side of a New York State Quarter.

Just something interesting I found and wanted to share.

Also, try to ignore the bloody finger.

Interesting.
They never mentioned that the "commemorative coin" is just a New York quarter with a painted obverse.

By the orange and black stripe on Washington's neck, it looks like the Darryl Strawberry quarter.

edit: Hummm.....that's interesting. I just checked ebay, and there appears to be 2 different kinds. Some quarters just show a head shot of the players (those look like the originals,) and some have their whole upper body on the quarter.
