found this old coin today ..cleaning out my dad's closet..I did a little research I think it's a 1864 large motto..can't tell what shape it's in. Any value I just don't wanna get taken advantage if I bring it somewhere. Thanks in advance steve

First of all to CCF Steve.

I personally could get a F-12 out of it with no problem.

A VF-20 would be possible only if the apparent verdigris on the reverse can be easily removed with a porcupine quill, for example, without leaving traces of etch marks resulting from where the Verdigris entrenched itself within the surface metal of the coin etc.

Just go to ebay and look for similarly-graded coins and their corresponding 'sold' prices before you put a sales price on it.

Interesting.
I would have said XF.
"WE" is still very visible.
The horizontal lines in the shield are worn but still separated.
The reverse details are sharp enough.

But I could understand it getting a high VF.
