Might not be a Mint error. Could be a prediction of what a Large Cent will look like in the year 7181.

Wow that is a cool error. I imagine errors like this are scarce or possibly even rare on large cents.

Wow. I'd take it out of the holder and try to stack it on another 1817 n-16. Can't believe it saw so much circulation before someone decided to save it.

GAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!! My brain hurts! I'm trying to force myself to see the concave image, but I keep seeing a convex image. I got successful only on the date and half of the stars. My brain hurts.

Anyhow, it's a beautiful and highly interesting coin. Thanks for sharing!

If it came from the Mint like that, how did it wear on only one side?

That is what I was wondering. Can someone walk me thought how a brockage is created? I cannot wrap my brain around this one!

EDIT: I was under the impression that the side that was struck by the existing coin would be the side that did not have the better details. If someone could walk me though how this is the reverse in this case, I would appreciate it.

Interesting that someone would decide to have it slabbed. Errors on old copper are actually my favorite of all coins at the moment. Thanks for posting this one!
