I agree with those who guessed AU-50 on it. . I do think the obverse of this coin is a SOLID AU territory, it has the luster and the detail that at least equals or surpasses most of the AU50s out there....and competes with many of the 1834 53s and 55s if you view the heritage auction archives and compare.
The reverse, however, looks more high XF-ish to me, and the light old scratch may play a role in bringing the coin down to a 45. The obverse is a lot more important to me, as 90% of the time viewing any coin in my collection is spent viewing the obverse.

And THIS is why I do not grade gold! It is a beautiful coin, I like this one better than the 1836. Congratulations on the acquisition .
