It doesn't help that Ike dollars can reliably be sold for $1.10-1.50. I'm honestly surprised that ANYONE can get Ikes at face value in 2014, let alone 500+ Ikes at face.

My wife worked at a bank, and has close friends who MANAGE a Flagstar Bank, Honor Crefit Union, and Chemical Bank. So.....I can get whatever I want, whenever I want......EXCEPT Ikes. 3 people called Brinks for me, while I was at the bank, They WILL NOT send Ikes, even when they say they have them. They say dollars are dollars and dont want to waste time loading them. One person alo called Loomis for me, same thing, they just straight up said NO, we dont deal with those. So......if you are able to call and get them, you are lucky!!

Coinaddict....

I have NO idea if I can do this. I started a new thread ... and will attempt to copy and paste it here.

For STAFF ... I am not selling anything. I need 3 more weeks to get there. Just sharing my last bag, and offering thoughts for other CCF members, to help get their FACE bags.

Partial results for a new Bag of Ikes. 1,000 is a lot of stuff to sort out.
Cuds (minor) 2
Part Miss Clad, Annealing, Lamination issues. 21
1974 (D) Almost REEDLESS (Condition AU) 1
BIG BAD PDM (awful how people treat money) 2
Sintered? (DO?) 5
1972 (P) Type 1 & 3 51
Peace dollar 1
1977 (S) 1
1971 (S) 2
1976 (S) 1
Toned 0
Partial Collars 0
1976 (D) TYPE one 373

NOTE: Biggest thrill of the hunt was NOT the AG! No Way, No How, NADA, ... It was the coin after coin of the '76 TYPE 1. IMHO, I now own some "stuff" with numismatic value. Even if it is only a modern coin. Of the 373 at least ½ are so fresh, it was breath taking to reach for a new one, out of the bag. I really thought I might harm a coin. Thought I was going into chest pains after 60 -- 70 good ones, and they just kept coming. Yes, there is some chafe in the total group.

Now back to my little bag. The obvious was the high percentage of one Strike. 37.3% Really?!?!? Who would have "thunk" it? ABOUT 200, In THAT condition? I feel comfortable that some may-could-might- reach MS64 ... Maybe more. Even at MS65 that strike doesn't retail high enough to break even. Doubtful, at this point, how I could ever pay for slabs. With the minimums and individual TPG cost ... Guess I would be happier with a fresh new hundreds of IKE's. Many (most of the better ones) have a CAM look to them. LUSTER and SHEEN are not sufficient words to describe them. Being a newbie here ... I really know little about CAMs

The 5 Silvers, in this bag was nice. It brought my average back up to one (1) AG, for every 357.7 new fresh bagged Ikes. Another way to say it (about) 2.8 silver items per new bag. If I did the math right.

I felt this bag had way more (on average) of 1972 (P). And more to the point ... Much better condition. Out of the 53, I feel comfortable that some will-might reach to MSxxx
I am still looking for that TYPE 2. One day I am going to spread them all ... and search, until my eyes fallout.

Before I DUMP ... will double check for more hidden 19XX (S) coins. Found my first one in this bag. Never seen one before. Color on the 1st one, was way off. Didn't feel weigh wise, right, (in my gloved hand). Then I tried the ring test. BINGO! Looked at the MINT MARK. 1971 (S). Now I wonder how many .4 AG I dumped, or spent? Oh well.

Will add some thoughts about my personal Ike BAG source. One of the large 5-6 banks in nation. Been banking long time with them. Have "relationships" with more than just a checking account. For persons looking for a new source, or a first source, pull out all the stops. Offer to bring in your retirement account(s). Try to keep as much of your finances with them, including BROKERAGE accounts, if you have one. If you have a several year relationship ... remind them ... you ARE a loyal (multi-year) COSTUMER. Remind them "they" are not the only Bank in town! Don't take NO for an answer. Tell them other banks are doing it for (make up a friend's name) BTW ... other banks ARE doing it ! PROMISE to NEVER EVER return those (^%$#*&^%$#) ikes back to the bank. Tell them you sell your excess coins to a coin dealer. If you do break that promise ... I am fairly sure, you will get what you so richly deserve! NO MORE IKEs. Tell them you are getting about ZIPPO on your interest accounts ... and the least they can do is give you a little SERVICE<=====

When the person claims she can't order them, that means she doesn't want to LIFT THEM (50+ pounds) ... Go over her head. I did. I call my main local city bank, then off to the STATE bank system, then off to San Francisco Ca. Then off to NEW YORK. With in 5-6 days ... I was at the bank, and the same rude, nasty, mean, ol' bag was sweetie sweetie with warm smile. She addressed me (Mr. XXXXX) saying you will get your ikes in 3-4 days. YEP! Got my 1st bag of JOY. Be sweet to ALL bank EMPs from the bottom to the top, no matter how crummy they are to you.

Hope all this helps my CCF brethren.
I will update, with more research, on this bag. Only spent 10 hours looking last night.

Not to rain on your parade, but the 77S is not silver. No silver Ikes were made in 77, only clad proofs. The 76 may or may not be silver, check the rim for copper.

Thanks for the heads up!

It was easy to find because it is an annealing or partial missing lawyer coin. Kind of copper red-ish where the top layer is missing. Errors of similar coins may POSSIBLY be worth more than a MSxxx coin. I never valued it for AG.

I got 373 -- 1976 type ones ... in that bag. Had on hand another 100+. Will look for it, ASAP

Guess I am good to go, on the Peace, and the (2) 1971 (S)

Anyway Thanks again.

Thanks for the Ike advice. I am 100 percent sure that the people I have attempting to order them for me are doing all they can. Again, they are the branch managers, and will order me in 20 boxes of halfs a week if I want. So I KNOW it is not them stopping the deal, its brinks. I as thinking of calling brinks myself? Maybe if I can them to release it to my friends branch I will be all set. Think that will help?

I hope it helps for you. Can't hurt. All they can say is no.

I am just opening a new account which I promised to do if I could dump coins there. He gladly offered to get whatever coins I needed.

I'm gonna see if he'll do bags of Ikes.

@Domain: not yet. I spoke to the manager and he said, "I didn't order it yet..." So, we'll see...I'm doubtful, but hopeful.

For me ... I really like the "tone" of what the manager said.

I assume you did at that point direct him/her to place the Ike order.

In my personal case I get 'em ... but most of the time it is a week or 2, or more, until the call.

Advise ... once you have "placed" an order ... stand down for at least 14-21 days. If you feel you want to "nudge" her, I would not call. I would just causally be in the bank for normal bank business stuff. Maybe only say hi. Maybe she will bring up the subject. Then go up the process.

I am thrilled with my situation ... ask very few questions ... let her divulge anything she wants to say. At her bank, she has a space, poundage situation she has to deal with. She says. Who knows?
