Ok just below the branches is what look to be a radical MIsplaced mint mark it comes up in the CPG and a FS-1964d-25-502 this would be what I would suggest to be a LDS coin it was removed directly from the mint cello and inserted in the book I believe the "scratches to be polish marks as the die was going through its travels the EDS coin in the CPG has better details but IMHO and really excited state I believe this fella is that coin

I dont have the capability to put arrows and what not into my images but you can see the MM in a semi turned state and the noticable line is raised not pressed in
EDIT is it against any policies to take a picture of a page in a book and post it? I am not sure if it is a frowned upon practice

That being said, if you do not own the image and do not have permission from the owner, then you cannot use it. Thanks Jbuck its what I believed as well! I believe it would not be cool, but if anyone with a CPG feel free to view the coin in the picture as I believe this coin is related. I have some images sent into a specialist. Waiting on Coop to chime back in since his last post.. I guess the only real question is...can that be a die break? Regardless its a neat coin and stands above regular 64d for having some personality..

You mean the die gouge at 1:00?
Even in mint sets the coins can be damaged before they were sealed. I first bought a mint set in 1999 and quit after the quality was the same or worse than I can get in OBW rolls. So I quit the same year buying them. I have bought cents from mint sets and I've found some interesting coins, but some year all was in them was LDS/VLDS die state coins. So I stopped buying them also. I've been buying 1960-1964 proof cent rolls when the price is right. Some want hight dollar prices for what they've already picked over. But in each roll I find some minor stuff.

Hay, I've been married 46 years to two different loves of my life. I learned patience a loooog time ago. LOL It is very hard to get an actual grade from images. But here is a link of PCGS Photo grade images. http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/Keep in mind that coin contact, even a bag mark can affect your final grade. If you see no bag marks at all, it is a great coin. The more distractions you coin is the lower the grade it can fall to. If you have the book : Looking Through Lincoln Cents Chronology of a Series" on pages 14-37 it gives a good description on coin grading. It was written by Charles D. Daughtrey. The owner of the coppercoins.com site. A good book to pickup for Lincoln Cents. You can find it for sale at his site coppercoins.com or check on line as others sell it as well. It discusses year by year the problems with cents and a good book as it locates everything by year. It doesn't not contain all varieties of cents, but it give a good heads up for what to look for/what to not look for.
