I was told by an outside person about these and was wondering if I could get some feedback. Since up until now I've used dental picks, DW or oil and/or a toothbruth. I try to only use my pick if I absolutely have to.

And if possible, post or email a cheap place to buy them :) Thanks!

I would be interested in the answer too. I started off using rose thorns, they were rubbish and I soon gave up. I know that museums use hawthorn thorns, but there are none where I live! I use a scalpel and sometimes my dogs used insulin syringes (very carefully). I have bamboo stakes for the garden, might give them a bit of a shave tomorrow....

I haven't tried bamboo, but I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has.

Bamboo is nice. You can really work it into the dirt on a coin without fear of damaging the patina. They do tend to dull quickly, though.

I have never used them on crusty ancients but porcupine quills are sharp and fairly hard and they are available in bulk on ebay.

Bamboo shiskabob skewers are cheap and available at the grocery store. For light cleaning jobs they are very handy and easily sharpened with an exacto knife or other blade. Sometimes a finger nail is adequate but for those tight spaces a bamboo skewer is ideal.

I've tried them along with sharpened popsickle sticks. I still prefer using dental picks.
