Common during the time period of the change over to zinc. They didn't have down the rinse technique yet, so the orange rind/zits/imperfections under the plating made a lot of coins during this period undesirable.

Looks like a 1982 large date zinc.

I will not have any zinc in my collection. period. Over time, I expect all of them to simply fall apart. Its copper for me all the way. = )
