I would like some grading input, as well as any input on the photos, experimenting with a cheap axial setup. Thanks! Coin 1: Coin 2:

I`d call the first one a PR 69 (Can`t see why it can`t be a 70!) And the 2nd one I would call a PR 67.

Thanks Dann... I'm pretty sure the spots would hold it back from 70, but I don't have enough experience to really know what PCGS would do.

Though not my series, I'm right there with Dann. Usually proof photographs, more than anything, heavily highlight the flaws. That first coin has maybe 3 barely noticeable under 5x mag. In hand that thing is pretty much flawless. In terms of your photography and lighting, I think it's exceptional from a buyer's perspective. For your own needs, maybe try to somehow incorporate something that displays more of the coins' mirrored surfaces.

First - PF-68 I don't know why,but the chatter around Lincoln's shoulder brings the grade down a bit more.
Second - PF- 66

As for your photos,is there any sign of a cameo on either coin? How close is the pics to the real coins?I know it's real hard to take pics of proofs.Maybe a bit too much light?I don't see the typical mirror look on the coins. John1

John - thanks for the critiques. There is no trace of cameo on either coin, they are highly mirrored surfaces. Axial lighting has the effect of shining light straight down on the coins while the actual light source is perpendicular, thus a perfectly mirrored surface should look completely flat, and bright. I agree these should be accompanied by some pictures with directional lighting. I've still got a lot more work to do.
By the way, the lighting setup consists of an old cat food box, glass from a picture frame, a piece of black felt, a tissue, and a little block of wood. The camera is an friend's Cannon D40 w/ 80mm macro lens and extension tube. Lens maybe sits 4 inches above the coin.
