I relly do not know where to put this thread. Sooooo...

In the bag I got yesterday there was an Ike, from the back of the bag screaming at me.

It was noticeably blue-ish in color. Kind of sheeny

Over all nice coin ... AU to UNC.

My first thoughts were a DISTILLATE. Lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene etc.

Would that do this sort of damage to a clad ike?

Or ... could it be Rainbow Toning?

Thoughts?

The best place for the thread is probably hanging off a picture!

Could be heated. As an experiment I've tried putting a few different coins over a candle flame for a few minutes, and CuNi coins seem to turn a noticeable bluish color if "cooked" for the proper time.

Just how blue is blue? My 1973-S Cu-Ni Proof has a very nice blue tone to it.

I will see what I can do. Considering how long it took me to photograph my 7070, you should not hold your breath.

The biggest problem I would have is removing the slides in the Dansco, which are dangerously close to the coins. Those slides have been in place since I completed the album over 21 years ago!

You don't have to remove the slides on my account. Maybe Domain will show us his blue Ike.

I do if I want to show the whole coin and not the reflecting light source.

I learned this photographing my 7070.

I am guilty of a no-no. I ask the question in good faith.

Been a little busy with the other part of the new bag ... (and some tax stuff) ... I have it somewhere ... but WHERE.

I am going to be of little help here.

Please forgive me for opening a can of worms.

I have some SBA's with a very interesting blue tint to them.

It doesn't seem like it was fire damage... I'll get pics up soon too... I hope... Bad camera... bad Camera!
