1926 Sesqui $2.5 Gold

I have had this coin for about 4 years, in a problem free PCGS holder. It is toned lustrous orange peel color with iridescent blue tinges around the perimeter....so what are your thoughts on this one? And what grade would you give her?


All photos were taken with natural light, which tends to show the color the best. The dark red-orange colors don't come out as much under a direct light:

Its a bit chopped up so I will say that held it back from MS and it went AU58

PCGS graded it AU-58. Drfreesworld is the winner, and I think his assessment of why it graded 58 is sound. In hand, it looks MS with full luster; but all those tiny pocks I think brought it to the AU level. There is no obvious wear on the coin. I really bought it because of the color, it is gorgeous.

Thinking about it, I can understand the lower grades based off of these pictures. They do not show the luster very well at all. Here are some photos that show the luster a bit better under a direct light. What a difference in color lightsources make, eh?

I haven't seen to many gold coins with toning this dark.
