I can remember when they actually were $150 each. Of course that was a long time ago. Eventually they crashed and have never been close to that since then.

That IS the lowest mintage Ike and IS the key to the series. I have seen graded 69's go as high as 70.00, but usually you can find them in the 30.00 range. This is the Bradford Exchange. They do not aim these at us. They aim them at non collectors. About the same as Franklin Mint. So they ask an outrageous amount and people pay it. If people are dumb enough to drop over 100 bucks on a coin and not do the research first, too bad for them.

It's been quite a while but I believe the value crash around 1985. I know it had bottomed out before 1989.

Conder101 was thinking what I was before I even scrolled down to his post. Right after they were minted in 1973 and/or 1974 the top was about $150.00 and that's in those days money. This website: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ will tell you how much money that would be today and since then it's been just basically a flat line. The hype from the Bradford Exchange is disgusting. Why? How would ya like to be the coin dealer that has to tell somebody what that's really worth. Now it's one thing to stick one of these 73-S Silver Ike's in a local auction and if it brings $129.00 cause somebody got auction fever oh well. (Actually the odds are better for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) getting elected President in 2016 and that ought to tell you something there. The DC politicos are mentioning her but seriously do you really think she can take the nomination away from Hillary. Yes it could happen but its not likely). Now when you over hype a coin and talk about some fancy packaging --- yuck. How many coin dealers really want to be compared with used car salesmen?

atchisonbj............ Quote: How many coin dealers really want to be compared with used car salesmen Respectfully, offered..... In the trade, it was beyond laughable, the whoopers uttered by the customers, who wanted to trade in their (junkie) car. Guess the best way to avoid naughty used cars salesman is to just buy a new car, with a new car warranty. IMHO ... there is crud dealers in (about) all trades. Trick is try to avoid them. ALLAnyway, no insults intended
