In the past year I've completed the following: Morgan year date set, Ike dollar, Peace dollar(need four more) ASE, and Franklin half. All in Dansco albums. The Ike,Franklin and ASE all in unc. The Morgan and Peace, mostly very fine to some unc. Now trying to decide on my next collection. Maybe Walking Liberty or Washington quarters? Not sure. I thought I'd get some input from everyone on what to collect and your reason for it. Love this site, learned a lot from here.

So after I had assembled several sets by just grabbing "hole fillers" I decided to do my Washington quarter set the right high -- all high grade coins, start with the key dates to set the standard for the rest of the set. It has been a bigger challenge than I expected, but also very rewarding! I have only 1 coin left, and when you are working in high grade, funny things happen in the price guide. I was surprised that the 32-D and 32-S were not the most expensive coins in the set. Several times I hit a wall and had money for the coins I wanted, but could not find them anywhere! But I digress. Walking Liberties are a great looking coin, but a tough set to assemble in quality. You might start with a short set there. I think everyone needs a herd of Buffalo nickels, and I enjoyed tracking down a complete set of proof Jefferson nickels. And of course, classic commems!

I agree with an MS Walker short set. Start with '41 & up then back up to AU/MS '34 (or MS depending on your budget). You will not be disappointed

I'm currently working on a AU/MS Washington quarter set and I'm thoroughly enjoying hunting down some nice BU coins for it.

Did the Wash quarters in circulated, working on high grade with proofs. I would say do that with the warning that first page is expensive as all get out in high grade. The 36 D hits a couple hundred in AU and goes up from there. Aside fromt hat issue, it is a great set.

Personally I've switched over to Commemoratives about two years ago. I've been collecting them for many years as I was building my mint and proof set collection which I have completed (Premier Sets have the commemoratives). So as I said the last couple of years I started with slabbed PCGS/NGC MS/PF 69/70 modern commemoratives. I also have a collection of Classic commemoratives mostly MS64-66 of which I would think would be more to your interest and would be quite challenging to complete.

Thanks for all the replies. I think at some point I'll probably do both the Washington's and walking liberty's. Then again the Mercury don't look bad....decisions, decisions! Definitely like to keep it silver. Uhm..silver Kennedy proofs, maybe...oh well I'll figure it out. Keep those ideas coming, enjoy everyone's input

I do enjoy Walking Liberty halves but never expect to complete my set in XF or better but I try. As mentioned the commemorative series of early commemoratives are also great sets to behold but can take a lifetime to assemble. You may want to look at the modern commemorative dollars, a large set but mostly attainable in proofs. additionally a classic type set such as the dansco 7070 is a great for variety and history. Lastly as an addition to your Franklin set you may want to add the 14 proofs as a great finish to your set.
