This may only be an issue for non US customers of Heritage. I have only purchased from Heritage a few time but each time the delivery has been phenomenally slow. Getting a parcel from New Zealand to Austria by surface mail is actually faster. Also Heritage charges huge amounts US$63.68. Heres the tracking info for my latest purchase from them. Does it really take 7 days from Texas to Los Angeles? I thought the Pony express closed down nearly 100 years ago! Quote: Also Heritage charges huge amounts US$63.68. That much to ship--and they're going the wrong way! For all that money, why isn't your coin leaving by the nearest airport? It takes me 3-4 days at most to ship to say, Oslo Norway or Melbourne by air post. I've never managed to win anything on a Heritage auction, so I haven't dealt with their crazy shipping prices.

I have only bought a few things from Heritage and the shipping costs are relatively high compared to other outlets. I've found that the shipping times are typical for the services they use (they aren't the ones delivering it). But it seems to take a week after I pay before they actually get around to shipping.
In regards to yours...I don't know why they routed the parcel through Los Angeles. Basic ground service mail in the US takes anywhere from 2-7 days to cover the distance your package has (with 2-3 days being typical, and 7 days being the exception). For 60 dollars, you should be getting air mail that flies direct from Dallas to Vienna or Munich.

Quote: USPS And I have a tracking number "track and Trace"? If it starts with "re" its registered which is miserably slow and explains the 7 days thing. Its usually one of the last things processed by USPS and can often sit for days in the same location. You could have the same package sent at two different times and one time it may take a few days another time could take a couple weeks. Its the safest way to ship things but comes with a lot of headaches.

The tracking number starts with CM......I have no idea what that means. When I deal with Auction houses in Aussi, New Zealand and the UK. I usually get a choice as to the type of Shipping Heritage gives no choice( again I assume this just applies to Foreign buyers like myself) I went to the USPS site and checked the most likely costs the closest I could find was this Quote: Priority Mail Express Internationalâ„¢ Flat Rate Envelope More info about Priority Mail Express Internationalâ„¢ Flat Rate Envelope USPS-Produced Envelope: 12-1/2" x 9-1/2" Maximum weight 4 pounds. 3 - 5 business days to many major markets 1, 2 $46.50 $42.75 The item is a single slabed coin value is US$100.00 I am amused at the 3-5 days for major markets.....obviously Vienna is not in a major market.

CM usually means certified mail which would be an unusual choice for that. I'm sure they have their own insurance so they could send it however they want, but certified would still be strange. Usually its priority or express when someone uses their own insurance.

Well here is one for foreign customers of Heritage to take note of. I received an email stating they had reassessed the postage.....yahoo! of course there's a catch... they will credit it against the postage on my next purchase! lets see When was my last heritage purchase? 6 years ago!
Note to self: In future always question the shipping fees before paying!
I wouldn't normally worry about how much time its taken....but the high postage costs did raise my expectations about the speed of delivery!

I live down the road from them, so anything I do with Heritage is hand to hand. But all my ebay packages go through the Coppell, TX Post Office substation, I've had items stuck there for days, and showed sent mis-delivered and two days later it shows up. Coppell is not the quickest station for sure. Registered Mail does take longer, but it's the absolute safest way to ship high value items. My Mom lives just South of LA and sends me stuff all the time, just regular envelopes, they take an average of 5 days.

Its only a minor irritation for me...... Of course I would have like to have the money back. But I am not going to make a fuss, The coin with the HIgh postage still cost less than the European market value. I today's global world( ALthough it was always a globe) NOn-US coin collectors have a great way of spending less...buy the coins you collect in another part of the world where they aren't so valued!

Of course I was out today.....and they tried to deliver. Actually for the reduced postage the timing is reasonable.

CM doesn't stand for certified mail. In this instance CM is the beginning of an international tracking number. It was probably sent as a First Class International parcel. Certified Mail is a domestic only service. Austrokiwi, glad to hear your coin reached its destination.
