I've had this coin in an NNC holder for years (it came like that). For years, I've wondered, off center or Broadstruck? I broke it out of the slab, and noticed a couple things. First, the coin is the same diameter as a regular Indian Head cent. Second, the coin was much thinner than it should be. I took it to work and found that it weighs 2.75 (plus or minus 0.01) grams. So the question is, what exactly happened here?

How do thin planchets make it into the mint? Like, was there a whole lot of the same sized planchets?

I tend to think off center on a tapered planchet.

with a tapered planchet, the details would have been weaker on the thinner side. This coin is well circulated, wearing down the details on the thinner part of the coin even more. Nice example of an indian head error!
