I am about to send away a lot of coins, and I'm at a quandary as to which one. I have heard a lot of good things about PCGS, but some complaints as well. I have heard a lot of negative stuff about NGC. I would appreciated your professional opinions. Thanks for your advice.

You cant really go wrong with either, but PCGS coins do get a bigger premium overall. I also like the look of the PCGS slab over the NGC one.
What kind of coins are they?

It's really up to you, and who you like for whatever reasons.... Or even for which slab you like more, lol. It would also help to know your reason for slabbing, if it's for resale or your collection? And what types of coins? Are you a PCGS or NGC member, (or soon to be) and using free vouchers? A lot of people like PCGS for resale value, but NGC is also a fine company, I would feel comfortable sending coins to either, except the prices are insane (to me). Though I've seen some pretty good mistakes in all of the top 3 companies slabs... They're only human and often only view the individual coins for a few seconds.... So it's nothing I'd really worry about.
If I see a coin I like I'll buy it in or out of a plastic coffin, I really could care less who slabbed it, and I sure won't pay a premium because of it. But personally, if I do send coins in for the few reasons I have, I like ANACS, especially for Morgans or varieties. IMHO they're just fine at what they do and do it for far cheaper.... But again... If looking for resale, for some reason PCGS is top tier...

I would do the 199 pcgs membership then. Youll get the most bang for your buck with the 8 free vouchers from it

I am a PCGS member, it was given as a gift. I have some coins I inherited from a family member who has passes, and want to preserve them for my children. BUT...I also have collected for a long time and have some high grade items that I would like to sell to aquire other coins. I've heard alot about NGC grading higher and not to trust their authenticity...but I cant believe that would be true. What does ANACS charge for US non gold valued at 5 through 10k? PCGS is pretty salty.

You lose far more selling a high end anacs slab than you save from the fee. A 5-10k coin should absolutely be in a PCGS or NGC slab.
As far as not to trust NGCs authenticity thats just someone saying things. Their variety attribution has been a little inconsistent but their authenticity can be trusted.

Ok. Thanks. I dont know why it double posts my entries when I use my phone. Annoying! I will use PCGS. I'm trying to get a 1795 flowing hair dollar, and have passed up a few NGC slabs, shouldt have I guess....

I would personally suggest PCGS on coins you plan to resell, in most series they have a fair premium in resale value on the best coins

I agree with the above. You will pay slightly more for PCGS, but most coins carry a premium in PCGS holders.

If you're on an Android phone, clicking "back" causes a double post.

I prefer PCGS.... Why? Well, maybe because my first slab was PCGS so it's kind of sentimental. I like both slabs. PCGS clear plastic complements gold coins like you're submitting. I think the white NGC slabs do not.

Everyone says there is a premium on PCGS graded coins, but there are fabulous (and expensive) coins graded by NGC as well. And it is not clear from, for instance, the Numismedia prices that PCGS coins actually fetch a higher price.
I will say that from my experience, NGC and PCGS grade statistically the same. That is, when I crack an NGC slab and send the coin to PCGS, it most likely gets the same grade it had. And vice versa when I crack a PCGS coin and send it to NGC.
So I usually submit to whichever company I have vouchers for. ;-)

I think PCGS is the best, as many other Korean collectors agree. But when it comes to the slab itself, I prefer the NGC slab.

In my opinion I say NGC grades harder on coins and are more accurate, but you can find things wrong with both companies. Either company is a safe bet, I guess which ever one is cheapest.
