Hi,
I've just joined to be honest to ask what I hope will be a very simple question (No pressure)
I've been collecting the full set of British coins that were made in the year my children were born. What I would like to do is store/display them in a card type display.
Each set consists of eight coins. I have seen some display cards but they have nine holes or they have dates on them.
Can anybody point me in the right direction please.
Thank you in advance.

David

Hi David and welcome.
How many kids/sets are involved.
A simple, if not elegant solution would be to buy several vinyl sheets, those which fit into a binder. Usually 4 X 5 = 20. You could cut these. 20/2 = 10.
Room for eight coins in 2X2 cardboard holders plus two blanks. These could be used to include the birth data and perhaps a small picture of the child.
The is no 'right' way to display coins.
Other members will have other ideas.
Ultimately it is your decision.
Rest in Peace

Look up coin supplies and coin storage. There are many online shops that have a lot of options -- including some custom display makers.

Assuming you've done that -- I like matthewvincent's idea. Those pages could be framed if you could find a deep frame. I've also seen shadow boxes with little shelves and I know that coin supply shops carry little easels....so that might work.

matthewvincent always has the best ideas.

But why cut it up, put the coins into in the 2x2 pages at random then use pocket size pictures in the open spaces, fill up an entire page per child.

Why stop with coins and pictures thou, a token from an amusement park or a lock from babies first haircut

Here's another crazy idea, use 2 pages per child, the 4 slots on the top of each page for the coins then a scrap-book in all the other holes.

Good Luck, Have Fun and please post pictures when you have it done I'm sure we'd all love to see it.

AND make sure to get them involved, it is for them after all

Thanks for all your prompt reply.
I'm trying to get the full set suitable.
I'm collecting the full set of british coins for all eight of my children to keep in their box, this is a box of things that I make containing little keepsafes. I had tottaly forgotten about collecting coins with there year of birth on.
I've done some internet searching and I like the look of the cardboard display Like the ones made by sandhill. The trouble is I cannot find one suitable

Not sure what is available in the UK. However, as far as any type of cardboard holder you have to be carefull. Some are and some are not coin friendly. By that I mean the materials used to make them may have long term effects on the coins. There are a lot of web sites that deal with coin supplies. One of the more commonly referenced one is called Wizard Coin Supply. Another place you may want to check is Whitman Publishing. They not only make coin Albums but coin supplies also. Possibly the easiest method would be to purchase those 20 pocket plastic sheets that hold 2x2's. However, again, not sure of the sizes of the coins you intend on using so may not work with those.
Also, not sure about the place where you live but around me, displaying coins or anything of value is just not to smart. Mice thought but just to much crime by me.

I was just going through Wizard's offerings, and saw very nice display cases for one or two coins. Just go somewhere these things are sold and browse for awhile before deciding.

Use the ninth hole to display the reverse of one.

Use the 9th hole to put a picture of the child in it that was born on that year?
