Let me know what you think and if it is rare variety! Only cost £15!
The coin in the previous posts - 1848 one. The seller decided not to sell which I was annoyed about but thankful as well because I worry about the verdigris! I will be on a look out for 1853 or less coin. At least EF.

Hope the photos upload. It looks shinier and rainbow toned in real life!

I wish I would look that good at the 152 year mark...

others will have to tell you if it is rare but it is certainly beautiful

I'm not an expert on the rare varieties but that's one of the best condition early Bun pennies I've ever seen, and it looks as if you got a real bargain!

Sadly it's really difficult to see the finer details (such as whether the 2 is over another number) through the holder. I think it looks very nice. But to get a proper ID, or even grade, we'd really need to see it without all the shiny plastic I'm afraid!

As to rare varieties, there are several books on the subject of bronze and copper pennies and many different variations. I'd email you but your settings seem to be the default of not accepting these. But you might find this site about pennies interesting: http://www.mycoincollection.co.uk/

Here is the coin without the shiny plastic: (it usually has more luster and clearer details but I took in bad light with flash off)

If you are talking above the spot above brittannias knee it is very dark green/ black I cannot really differentiate but the dreaded verdigris is light green/ turquoise color and is crumbly, this is smooth and dark green. I think it is a stain or pvc stain or something else. Anyway it is going in a air tight bag with desiccant so if it is it will not grown anymore.
