Beautiful coin - full red with just a few marks! I think it could go MS-65. Is it yours?

I'm guessing that's a die crack and not a scratch through the P in PENNY?

It is mine yes. I'm thinking about consigning it.
Not sure yet, though.

Paul, yes, that's a die crack.
I'm guessing one of the master of british coins, can figure out which dies were used on this.

That's a very nice example. The dies are 6 + G (the only dies used for 1866), and it's a Freeman 52. There appear to be a few hairline scratches (under Viccy's chin, for example) but it should make MS65RB or RD. It's always hard to judge colour from a photo.

There was one MS65RB, on auction a couple of weeks ago, fetched $750.

This coin looks way better, I'm even thinking MS66RD. Not sure how much that influenses on the price, but I'm guessing $1000 +/-

Just got this back from NGC, MS65RB, so not to shabby.

RE Accumulator: The hairlines is infact ghosting, think its the legs from the other side. Makes it a tad more interesting :)

Wonderful high-grade copper. MS-65 doesn't surprise me at all for that lovely piece of old British copper.
It has lots and lots of red for an RB.

I sold a penny in similar condition, a bit grubby, but loads of luster, for £200 a year or so ago. Yours is a bit nicer than it. I couldve gotten more than £200 for it, but I didnt want to be greedy and tempt fate.
